CONGRATULATIONS to the RCPEM, new corporate member

Written by Institut de Saine Gestion on 11/11/2010

The Institute of Sound Management is proud to welcome the Regroupement des centres de la petite enfance de la Montérégie (RCPEM) as a new corporate member.

The RCPEM has its heart set on promoting Sound Management and we are convinced that it will be a worthy and dynamic ambassador of the Institute to the CPEs (Centres de la petite enfance, French abbreviation of “daycares”). For several years, the executives of the RCPEM have organised trainings and promoted the implementation of the Sound Management Framework of the Institute in the CPEs.

The CPEs in Quebec are among the rare subsidised organisations to have a duty of sound management imposed by the Quebec legislator.

Congratulations!

Abbelone,

Unfortunately, there is not an Institute of Sound Management in Denmark for now. However, as Sound Management is applicable to any type of business in any country, one day, if there is enough interest, chapters of the Institute of Sound Management can open in Denmark and many other countries.

Thanks for your kind words; I will make sure the RCPEM reads them.

All the best from Benoni, South Africa!

Interested to know more about sound management in early childhood settings, particularly in the classroom. Any downloadable pamphlet?

Steven,

We do not have a specific pamphlet for the early childhood field, but we do have free PDF documents about the Sound Management concept that you can download from our References page.

Bravo au RCPEM! Belle initiative à être imitée par tous les autres regroupements!

Congrats from a childcare center supervisor of British Columbia! We do not have such a beautifully organized and supported system here, but we always look forward to transferring some of the best things you guys in Quebec come up with in the field. Seems to me that “Sound Management” is your next landmark!!! Thanks for reporting back on your implementation progress!!!

Sincerely,
Carole

Bonjour,

Congratulations to the RCPEM on this excellent initiative! The Quebec Association for Preschool Professional Development (QAPPD) is proud to be following the Sound Management training as well. Given that our non-profit organizations are funded primarily by the public purse, accountability for how those tax dollars are managed is of paramount importance.

Sincerely,

Have read the documents in References pages as suggested by one. Interesting and well articulated model, applicable to any type of non-profit business (in part for its abnegation principal). What about for-profit businesses? Do you use one-less principal?

Hans,

The Sound Management model and principles are applicable to any type of business, non-profit or not, and of any size.

At first glance, it is true that Sound Management may seem more attractive to non-profit organisations, but rest assured that it is not limited to this type of organisations. Actually, to answer your questions, “abnegation” refers to the idea of subordinating your own interests to those of the organisation and it is not incompatible with the goal of making profits. To put things simply, it means that a person with deciding power should not make a corporate decision for her/his own benefit. Instead, that person should think about the organisation while making decisions.

Also, one cannot take bits and pieces of Sound Management. Either you embrace it completely or you don’t. So putting aside one principle such as abnegation in order to achieve something is just as bad as doing indirectly something that cannot legally be done directly.

Alma,

The answer is Yes. As I said to previously, the Sound Management is a systematic and rigorous management approach integrating in a matrix-type model. The approch simplified the classification of any kind of rules. The fundamental principles are universal on management point of view. Bernard Brault

What a nice concept! What a beautiful initiative from the childcare centers to engage in this healthy process. Sound Management, at least as described in your documentation, seems like a very promising concept. I beleive more real-world implementation exampled would help understand better the concept because so far, it is mostly theoretical.

Hello Mr professor Porter

Nice to see you on our site. It is true the concept is theorical, but on the other hand the CDSG has been developped through 20 years of professional pratice. It is so practical you could be surprised. But we need good will to implement it.

Concerning the comment to Jean Tremblay, as I wrote recently, Sound Management is allergic to embezzlement, cronyism, conflicts of interest, megalomaniacs, narcissistic persons, and organizational psychopaths, villains, buccaneers, crooks, convicts, cheaters, perverts, and other gloomy characters prowling in our public and private organizations. This allergy can’t be healed.

Because the concept has been developped in French, for 20 years we did not have a tremendous demonstration of interest from Québec universities. Laval, Sherbrooke, and HEC never helped to promote it. Now because we are becoming international, things seem to change. We receive many visits from USA, Asia, and Europe. For now we don’t have sufficient funds to translate my books properly.

Thanks for visiting us

Excellent initiative. All the CPEs in the province should do the same. We just took our Sound Management training recently (two great instructors, Guy and Phillip, who knew their stuff by the way) and we were all enchanted. We look forward to more advanced training on the topic.
